Take a look through our range of Vina Falernia wines and you will be sure to stumble upon a great bottle of white or red. Vina Falernia were established in 1998, and they make wine from the beautiful Chilean region of the Elqui Valley. This is now one of the premier wine-growing areas of Northern Chile thanks to the two cousins behind Vina Falernia.
Vina Falernia's founder Aldo Olivier Gramola is originally from the equally beautiful Val di Sole valley of the Italian Alps, and he has used his deep knowledge and passion for wine to create some gorgeous bottles, from rich reds to peachy, luscious whites.
Two Italian cousins in Chile
The founder of the business Aldo Olivier Gramola moved from Northern Italy to Chile when he was 12 years old, starting his working life by cultivating vegetables. This knowledge for the climate and the soil accrued at this early stage would prove important as he moved on to new ventures. Before moving onto wine, Aldo had great success producing Pisco, Chile's national spirit. But it wasn't till 1995 when Aldo met up with his cousin Giorgio Flessati, himself an oenologist (or winemaking sciences expert), that his exciting and bold winemaking ideas began to be put into action.
Elqui Valley wine
Vina Falernia has never been about taking the easy route. Their estate is one of the most northerly ones in Chile. They pride themselves on investing in the most innovative of new technologies to harness the great but hugely overlooked potential of land to the north of the country that, when left uncultivated, becomes arid. It was not long after Vina Falernia became a reality, though, that this landscape was transformed into rows and rows and vivid green vines.
Their range today is testament to the success of the two founders' fine wine-making revolution in the stunning Elqui Valley. Pioneers of what has now become a new wine region in Chile over the last couple of decades, the two cousins have reached dizzy heights - especially considering that one of their vineyards happens to be one of the highest above sea level in the world! The results are always impressive: whether you are after an elegant, floral and peppery Syrah, or a fresh crushed apple Riesling, Vina Falernia will have a bottle or two for you.
