About
Back in the late 1980's the Trinity Hill team were already making fine Chardonnay in the Hawkes Bay region of New Zealand but felt that the Gimblett Gravels in the area could be the key to producing red wines to rival the best in Europe. They were amongst the early pioneers in planting vines on the former bed of the Ngaruro River with the first wines being produced off site in 1996. Two years later a state of the art winery was established with the first vintage meeting with huge critical acclaim and many awards.
Trinity Hill has continued to produce a range of world class wines that we are delighted to feature here at The Fine Wine Company. The outstanding wines are bursting with fruit and character but retain a wonderful complexity and sophistication that you would expect from old world wines. The wines have garnered a number accolades over the years and are a feature on the menus of many of the planet's top restaurants.

The colour is a deep, vibrant crimson. Wild raspberry, blackberry and black pepper aromas predominate. Savoury, spicy notes follow with some meaty overtones. Powerful but balanced, ripe tannins give the wine great structure. Oak ageing plays a minor part and the wine lives on its fruit. Combined with good acidity, these characteristics mean excellent ageing potential.

A marvellously fragrant wine suggesting blackberry, licorice, anise and violets. The intense, long palate marries opulence and fineness to perfection. This just might be NZs most intense Syrah / Viognier. Its a huge wine with a velvet texture and masses of ripe plum and dark berry fruit flavours that are more than a match for the wines solidly oaky overcoat.
Primary aromas of fresh raspberry, plum and brambly spice are evident on the nose. On the palate, the wine shows soft, velvety tannins and will develop complex forest-floor and earthy characters with bottle age.
