Cullen Wines are a leading Australian wine producer based in the Wilyabrup area, which is within the Margaret River wine region, in the Western Australia area. The first vines were planted in the area as a trial in 1966 and the success of the trials saw 17 acres of vineyard planted by 1971.
They first founded their business under the name Willybrup Wines and their first vines planted were Riesling, Gewürztraminer and the Australian favourite Cabernet Sauvignon. Cullen Wines has been run according to natural biodynamic farming principles since 2003 and previous to this they had also adopted organic methods in 1998. They have been certified carbon neutral and they are proud of their eco-conscious approach to production. Their wines include reds, white and roses, all of which have a distinctiveness which marks them out as part of the Cullen collection. In the glass, this wine is a light lemon colour with light green tinges. It opens with aromas of citrus, lifted by pear and green mango. The citrus notes continue in the mouth, accompanied by cooked apple and some stone fruits. The finish is elegant and refreshing.
