The foundations of the Betz Family Winery were made in the 1970s when Bob and Cathy Betz spent a year training on the vineyards of France, Germany and Italy. It wasn't until 1997 that their first Betz Family vintage was crushed but it was immediately popular and it was their chance to begin their own personal wine journey, whilst also working with other wineries.
Betz Family wines are driven by the goal of crafting compelling, original wines which have their own individual characters. They have worked hard to craft individual vineyard blocks on their land in Washington, which allows them to ensure their wines stand out for the right reasons. The Washington wine region isn't as well-known as other American regions but it is becoming more well-known because of wineries such as those of the Betz Family. You can explore a range of Betz Family wines at The Fine Wine Company.

The 2014 La Cte Rousse displays the youthful, brooding, dark character expected from these Red Mountain sites. The superb ripening conditions are evident in its deep core of blue and black fruits. Inky black, with dark plums, creamy black fruits, generous smoke and anise, yet it still retains its cool site vitality. Supple and fleshy are hallmarks of this vineyard in any vintage, but the 2012 Syrah packs on more textural breadth, and a meaty, spicy, earthy nuance.
The high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon (89%) gives the 2013 Pre de Famille a deep ruby-purple hue. The breadth of aromatics is exciting, expressed as redcurrant, blackberry, crushed herbs and leather. Bay leaf, thyme and star anise notes accompany a full-bodied, powerful and focused feel on the palate
