Glaetzer, Amon-Ra, 2013 (Case)

2011 was an extremely wet year in the Barossa Valley which was not conducive to the style and quality level required of the Cabernet Sauvignon used for Anaperenna nor the Grenache used for Wallace. As such I made the difficult decision not to release these wines.
The Bishop Shiraz generally comes from soils with a high clay content and therefore suffered with excess water holding. Those parcels weren’t suitable either, consequently no 2011 Bishop will be released.
However, the vineyard sections located on light, free draining, sandy soil fared much better, although volumes were extremely small. I selected a few tiny parcels of these batches for Amon-Ra to show what could be made to reflect the absolute best of the challenging 2011 vintage.
