Great Southern

The Great Southern wine region is situated right by the coast and is one of the larger regions in the whole of Australia. It covers an area of over 150 kilometres and has a varied climate across this space, from maritime climes to Mediterranean temperatures across the area. An outstanding cool climate has led The Great Southern to become known for its shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and pinot noir.

White wines also grow well in the region with excellent chardonnay and sauvignon blanc produced in a style which critics recognise is unique to The Great Southern. The Frankland River, Mount Barker and Porongurup regions are especially known for their Riesling too.
