It is located north of the capital of Adelaide and it covers an area based in the Mount Lofty Ranges, extending from Truro the south of the town of Springton. Over 37 wineries work in the region and it has had appellation as an Australian Geographical Indication since 1997.

A mixture of red and white grapes are planted in Eden Valley. The most planted grape is Shiraz with high quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon planted too.
