Sicily

Sicily is Italy’s southernmost wine region and it has played a significant role in wine production for over 2500 years, plenty of time to develop their own unique styles and flavours. Sicily was traditional known for its Muscats and Marsala and it is also known for dry table wines as well as fruity, flavourful reds. At The Fine Wine Company we have sourced fine examples of Sicily’s best reds.

The red grape varietals planted in Sicily include Nero D’Avola, Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Mantellato, Perricone, Frappato, Calabrese and the more well-known Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon as well as Merlot and Syrah. They produce a wide range of rich reds including Etno Rosso, Syrah, Nero D’Avola and Cerasuolo di Vittoria. The diverse range of different varietals allows Sicilian wine growers to create original blends and the combination of their native grapes and the recognisable international imports means they have an extensive range of diverse flavours and styles of red wine to offer.
