Description

Ruby Dum and Tawny Dee - the Niepoort 'twins' as reflected on the bottles. These wines come from the same lot, but over a five year period are aged differently so that the one is rich and ruby in style, while the other becomes paler and more tawnied. A rather novel and fascinating new approach which in our view really works well. Both wines are very drinkable indeed. At the same time that famous English names were establishing themselves in the Douro, the other great Port importing nation - the Netherlands - was sending bright business types to set up Port Houses. One such was Franciscus Marius van der Niepoort. Five generations later and the dynamic Dirk van der Niepoort is at the helm. Niepoort used to be well-known for their Tawny and Colheita ports, but Dirk has worked tirelessly to raise the profile of their Vintage Ports too. One of the key moves, with this in mind, was for Niepoort to purchase their own vineyards with Quintas de Npoles, do Carril and do Passadouro coming under the Niepoort wing at the end of the 1990's.

FAULTY WINE

On the (extremely!) rare occasions you may discover a faulty wine, we will of course offer a full refund once returned. Please telephone on 0131 669 7716 or contact us for further details.

TASTING TICKETS

Please note that once we've despatched them, refunds can only be issued in the instance that we are able to resell your ticket(s).

BREAKAGES

Our transit boxes are designed to withstand most things, but wine does however sometimes break in transit. Parcel Force advises us if there are any breakages in a daily delivery audit of all parcels sent the previous day. We resend all breakages as soon as they tell us of any problems. It is, however, still very important that you let us know of any breakages once received so we can arrange replacement wine for you as quickly as possible. We will always replace any wine broken in transit, be it your own personal wine, or in wine gifts sent to your customers, staff, family or friends. Please always check both the number of parcels and the condition of any wines you sign for - as we cannot be held liable for any breakages once you have accepted and signed for them.

COOLING OFF PERIOD

Under the Distance Selling Regulations, you may cancel a distance contract to purchase a product or products from us at any time within 7 working days after the day you received the relevant product or products (subject to the limitations set out below).

In order to cancel a contract in this way, you must give to us written notice of cancellation. This can be done by email to sales@thefinewinecompany.co.uk quoting your order reference number, full name and address.

If you cancel a contract on this basis, you must promptly return the products to us, in the same condition in which you received them. Items must be returned in their original packaging and in re-saleable as new condition.

If you cancel a contract on this basis, you will be refunded in full the cost of the goods. However, we are unable to refund any initial outbound delivery charge you have paid, and you will be responsible for paying the cost of returning the product to us.

Please be mindful that until the product is safely returned to us it is your responsibility to ensure it stays in perfect condition. Returned items will be fully checked and photographed on return. Any items that are received by us in a damaged condition will not be eligible for return or refund, and any such items will be returned to you.

The Bioma Crusted originates from the Pisca vineyard, as for the Bioma Vintage Port. In year's where a Vintage Port decalration isn't possible, the wine is released as a crusted port.
