Salta White Wines
Salta is one of the most northerly wine regions in Argentina and also one of the oldest. The first vines were planted by Spanish missionaries in the 16th century and it is located high, over a mile above sea-level and in amongst ragged rock formations.
Many of the vineyards in Salta are over 100 years old and they are concentrated around the city of Cafayate and the Calchaqui Valley. The searing heat of the region is deal for growing fine Malbec, Tannat and Cabernet Sauvignon. The cooler nights mean the acidity levels in wine produced here are surprisingly high when considering the daytime heat and you can explore a range of Salta wines here at The Fine Wine Company.
