The 2014 Chateau Arnauld Cru Bourgeois is a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. The 2014 has classic aromas of blackcurrant and cedar with smokey undertones, the palate is well-structured with intense notes of blackberry and plum and held together by taut tannins.
Rigorous selection takes place here. The juice of the best hand-harvested grapes makes it into your bottle. This is the winery's first wine. It's what made it prestigious enough to be included in the original 1855 classification of the Bordeaux greats. Decanter said, "prices have not climbed as quickly as improvements in quality,". If you get in before the secret gets out, you'll save a packet and…
A fourth growth St-Julien estate which has boasted consistnet performance for the last few vintages and this is no exception. The fresh and perfumed nose leads onto a palate rich in fleshy fruit with bramble fruit and elegant tobacco notes. Pure, precise and with gripping tannins.
This stunning vintage has been somewhat overshadowed by the quality of the two preceding years, but is now being discovered for its flattering character. With its beautiful deep color and discreet spicy aromas, this wine shows a stunning youth, firmness and complexity. Decanting before service will reward one with fine aromas of coffee, cedar and black currant which will allow it to perfectly acco…
We particularly enjoyed the balance of this wine. It has all the hallmarks you would expect from a St. Estphe, but it also had charming cassis fruit and structured but not drying tannins. It is drinking very well now, but can be laid down for many years.
Highly refined and precise, the 2015 vintage reflects splendid ripe appes at optimal maturity. The mouthfeel is impressively elegant and smooth. It is well-balanced with a touch of freshness and thus has exceptional ageing potential.
The Vauthier family who own Chteau Ausone also possess Chteau Fonbel, with the latter reflecting some of the class, finesse and seductive style of the former, while offering exceptional value for money. The 2012 vintage is blended as 60% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot and 5% Carmenre. A deeply alluring fragrance of dark cherries, plums and lilac, with soft textures and finely-…
This is very sexy on the nose, with plenty going on and lots of freshness on the palate, despite the very ripe Merlot. This is a very well made and serious wine, and will be great value for money with a lovely long finish.
On the nose, the Cadillac Ctes de Bordeaux offers aromas of black cherry, bramble and sweet spice. The palate is elegant yet full-bodied, with lovely acidity and concentrated flavours, soft ripe tannins and a long, lifted finish.
Aromas of ripe dark fruit and oak on the nose are followed by rich, intensely ripe, plummy fruit on the palate. Fresh core acidity keeps it vibrant and alive and this is all supported by a taught tannin structure. All in all a great example of how Merlot excels in Lalande de Pomerol
