Perfumed nose; caraway seeds, floral, sweet mint, blueberries and cassis, with spicy notes of Earl Grey tea, and Dutch liquorice. On the palate the wine is smooth and rich with the sweet earthiness of roasted root vegetables, the acidity of rhubarb and the dark lusciousness of black currants. Layered and complex, the 2018 finishes with lovely sweet notes as well as that typical cabernet tannin kee…
A translucent ruby/violet in colour. The nose is lifted, aromatic, complex with violet leaf, red and blue fruit, yet not vegetal at all. There is pepper, ashes, rose petals, mulberry; exactly what this vineyard smells like after a summer rain. Balanced, vibrant, medium bodied, the wine has a satiny, svelte mouth feel and a long smooth finish with grip.
Pretty nose, floral and sweet fruited. Notes of tar, orange peel and spice from the Mataro co-mingles nicely with the lively, bright red fruited Grenache. Medium bodied with dusty tannins and great acid, focus and drive, the 19 GR/M strikes a nice counterbalance between the openly fruity nature of Grenache and the darker, more brooding nature of Mataro
Ruby red with an attractive nose of clove, cinnamon, cherries and roses, the MCC delivers wildness and perfume in equal measures. Sweet red fruit contrasts the spiciness on the palate and finishes clean, dry and focused with rose petal and cherry notes on the after breath. Good acidity keeps the wine bright and fresh faced, albeit rustic and food friendly.
A full-bodied wine with a lightness of touch, this shows the typical plum and mulberry fruit of Shiraz lifted by the delicate apricot and floral notes of Viognier. The palate is rich and spicy but still retains a seam of elegance and a long, poised finish
Bright and juicy blueberry and blackcurrant flavours are followed by notesof of briary spice, black olive, mint and just a touch of oak sweetness from the oak. The palate is medium-full bodied, with silky tannins and a long fruity and velvety finish
This generous, full-bodied Grenache demonstrates the full potential of the variety in the Barossa, with rich red cherry, milk chocolate and white pepper flavours, a lusciously proportioned yet superbly detailed palate, and a vibrantly mineral finish.
A remarkable Barossa Shiraz that demonstrates the concentration and complexity of old vine fruit. Liquorice, violet and cedar notes add detail to the typical mulberry and blackberry fruit, while the palate combines weight and richness with wonderful vigour and interest.
Aromas of blackberry and dark fruits with subtle hints of black pepper and aromatic spices. The palate is balanced with black cherry, raspberry flavours complemented by subtle fine tannins and toasty mocha oak, providing a long lingering finish.
A rich, well balanced example of the Aussie classic blend. Lush black fruits coupled with touches of woodspice, liquorice and cassis follow through to a delicious, velvety finish. This wine is consistently good from vintage to vintage.
A rich mouthful of lip-smacking, sensuously structured McLaren Cabernet and Clare Shiraz. An electrifying vibrant nose of ripe red cherry, cranberry, black fruit, aromatic smoke, vanilla, violets and treacle lead to a concentrated palate of cranberry and sour cherries, with more savoury flavours of black tapenade, herbs and a hint of tobacco.
The Squid's Fist, Some Young Punks - Academic principles of winemaking blended with a belief in keeping wine making as natural as possible. The black attack of shiraz is cleverly enveloped in sangioveses savoury limbs in this triumphantly loose-limbed libation. Sour cherries, plums and sweet spices lead to a light silky mouth feel, with firm tannins, raspberries and a pinch of black pepper. The w…
