Sherry holds a special place in the history of wine as one of the oldest types still available today. At The Fine Wine Company we are dedicated to offering a range of sherries, all brought in from the specialist area in Andalucia where sherry is produced.
Our range represents the plethora of flavours and styles available from this tiny region from the lighter, dry Manzanilla to more intense, deep Pedro Ximenez with its sweeter tones lending it to use in desserts and as a digestif. There is an amazingly wide range of different sherry options available from such a small, distinct region of Spain yet we have worked tirelessly to ensure our range represents as many quality examples as possible.
This is effectively a blend of Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez Sherries with an average Solera age of about 8 years. The result is a rich and sweet but not cloying dessert wine. You could try this chilled or even over ice as an aperitif.
Barbadillos Finos are more Manzanilla like in style, but are aged in Bodegas with less exposure to the cooling sea breezes. The flor in the barrels grows vigorously in these cellars so the wine is a little more nutty and toasty than the more appley and yeasty Manzanillas of Sanlucar.
This Manzanilla has been aged for 8 years before bottling, making it a Pasada style. The extra ageing on a pasada builds complexity, body and adds a hint of oxidation as the veil of flor begins to thin. It is also an En Rama or raw manzanilla meaning the wine has been bottled straight from the cask with no fining or filtration to preserve the body and freshness. The Pastora, or shephe…
Colour: Brilliant clear amber. Nose: Clean, light and superbly stylish, it is a pure raisin wine that combines a full aroma with a pleasant fruitiness. Palate: Rich in dried fruit nuances and toasty hints of skins, with fresh overtones, rosemary honey. Unctuous palate.
Colour: A naturally sweet wine, of dark dense mahogany colour. Nose: Deep rich nose with reminiscent of prunes and chocolate. Palate: Sumptuous wine of great intensity, rich concentrated fruit in the mouth with a full, rich, succulence, seemingly unending finish.
A golden yellow amber colour with reddish hues, typical of the variety and a hint of desired oxidation. Tertiary aromas hit the nose due to it's aging, followed by dried figs, roast almonds and alcoholic notes like whisky. Warm, full bodied and plenty of structure, fatty and oily viscosity. There is a hint of wood which rounds everything off.
Dark golden in colour, obtained by using both types of ageing. During the first three years it is a fino and after that it starts the oxidation process for at least five years. Dry with a yeasty, nutty aroma and a clean, dry finish.
Aged for at least 5 years it is a full-bodied, nutty sherry with a strong and fragrant aroma. Amber to mahogany in color, it is darker, smoother and less dry than amontillado sherries. Matured by the oxidation ageing process.
Golden in colour with an intense nose with the exceptional aromas expected of a late harvest: figs, raisins and prunes that blend with the pastry, typical of aging on lees. Light and intense in the mouth. Subtle, filling but not tiring. The acidity and natural sweetness play with ripe and fleshy fruit, leading to a long aftertaste in which the oak is so elegant
A clean gold colour with green highlights. The nose is marked by the French oak, which accentuates the raisin and prune aromas. A soft palate despite the high alcohol and a pleasant finish of ripe fruit and oak
A blend of 100% Palomino grapes from Cartera and Macharnudo Alto, two of the best vineyards in Jerez Fermented in stainless steel and aged in a solera under flor for an average of five years. It's a characterful Fino, quite accessible, with notes of esparto grass and a lowish acidity palate that is quite round and great with food.
The real average age of La Bota de Manzanilla Pasada 90 Capataz Cabo is around 14 years. It is a complex and powerful wine, of balanced freshness and elegant oxidation notes that make it truly unique.
This is a wine for connoisseurs, bottled almost unfiltered in order to preserve its golden color and racy character. The nose shows very complex and intense aromas, and a remarkable roundness in the palate (the traditional buttery touch of old finos) as a result of the autolysis of dead flor yeasts resting on the bottom of the vessel.
The nose is intense and sharp highlighting the aromas of apple, fresh almond and hay on a background of yeast. The palate is unctuous and complex with hints of soil and long aging that make it particularly tasty.
By the end of 2010, and on the fifth birthday of the creation at Equipo Navazos, they were lucky enough that their friends at Prez Barquero allowed them to celebrate it with a super limited release: a racy Amontillado from Montilla. An extremely old NO wine of exceptional intensity and concentration, and spectacular complexity, sourced from one of the row-end butts that rest in Prez Barqueros…
The nose is intense, pungent, with aromas of apple, fresh almond, frangipane, yeast, baking leaven, haystack, sticky cistus, chalk. Pleasant mouthfeel with a charming biological presence that combines the lively acidity of a young savagnin from the Jura, and the saline fat of a meursault. A prelude of aromatic boldness, spiritual delicateness, and savory freshness. Its liveliness and tension are o…
This is surely one of the most exciting releases of all from Equipo Navazos, which is harmonious yet at the same time rare and exotic as well as having that beguiling character that suggests not just its origin in the Albariza vineyards of Pago Miraflores in Sanlucar but also hints of aged white burgundy. This is still quite delicate on the nose, but plenty of concentration, flavours and mineralit…
This delicious Manzanilla was made from the same juice once bottled as La Bota de Florpower 77 MMXV wine, (vintage 2015), however this butt of wine was fortified and aged as a manzanilla in Barrels locked by the Consejo Regulador. We admit it is a complex scenario, if Florpower has always been an unfortified white wine, why mess it up now with a Manzanilla florpower? Well, because its what it i…
