Golden amber in colour. On the nose this shows a lifted spicy character with notes of tea and a hint of peppermint. Dry clean palate with the light-bodied, gentle bite spice and pepper softened by a touch of honey.
Mid amber colour. The nose bears caramel notes with a delicate stone-fruit backdrop. A robust palate with some fine leather notes, tobacco, oak and a hint of dried cherries. The finish is smooth and calming.
Aged 6 years, this straight rye is made more distinctive by its bottle, the design of which was inspired by pre-Civil War times when bars purchased whiskey by the barrel barrels which they'd decant into ornate engraved decanters supplied by the distiller.
A balanced, rich, fruity nose. Notes of spices and chocolate, toffee and vanilla. On the palate there are tart stone fruits, prunes, spices, morello cherries, cocoa and vanilla, finishes with notes of oak, chocolate and butterscotch.
The Jack Daniel's range grew in 2017 with the introduction of their Tennessee Rye whiskey - the first whiskey from the distillery with a mash-bill that different from the classic Tennessee Whiskey since Prohibition! It features a core of 70% rye, supported by 18% corn and 12% malted barley, and enjoys the same charcoal filtration as their other expressions.
