Armagnac is the oldest of all distilled spirits in France, with a history that dates back to the 12th century. Authentic Armagnac is made in the foothills of the Pyrenees and has a fuller, deeper flavour that cognac with a fruity, aromatic depth which is characteristic of this spirit. At The Fine Wine Company we have a range of Armagnac to ensure every type of palate is catered to.
Armagnac falls into two main categories: vintage and non-vintage with further sub-categories of VS, VSOP, XO and Hors D'Age used to further split vintages into groups by age. As a grape brandy its growers and producers are very specific about the grape varieties which can be used in its production. The main grape used is the Ugni Blanc but Folle Blanche, Baco 22A and Colombard grapes are also used, with a further six different varieties permitted to create an authentic Armagnac. All Armagnac is made in the Gascony region of France and its unique flavour is created through a single distillation but many years of ageing. An excellent digestif, our range ensures a number of different vintages are available, catering to different palates and ensuring fans of both young and old Armagnac can find a bottle to suite their taste.
