Tomero

The vineyards named Finca Los Alamos was established by Antonio Pulenta and was one of the first in the region. Still owned by Antonio’s sons Carlos and his younger brother Eduoard, with the exception of Torrontes, which comes from the north, in Salta, they are the main source for the fabulous Tomero wines, which are named after the man who controls the water supply that runs from the reservoir through the gulleys, providing the essential water to Mendoza province.

The vineyards are situated south of the Mendoza river in the beautiful Uco valley, between the small Uco hills and the Andes. Around 120km south of Mendoza town at 1300m above sea level with a day / night oscillation of around 32° - 12-15° in summer and snow in the winter, this is considered one of the up and coming quality areas of Mendoza province.

Los Alamos has some of the most mature vineyards in the valley, along with some more recent interesting, experimental plantings of Viognier, Petit Verdot and Pinot, some of which has been blended with Chardonnay and is undergoing secondary fermentation in bottle. Quality of both grapes and winemaking were highlighted in 2006 when the first vintage of a Reserve Malbec was voted best Malbec in the world at the Argentinean ‘Wine Olympics’.
