Glenguin

Glenguin Estatewas first planted in 1988 and is close to the village of Broke in the Hunter Valley, home of Australia's two oldest wine styles made from Semillon and Shiraz. These two varieties form the backbone of our small range complemented by small plantings of Tannat, Viognier and Chardonnay.

The vines at Glenguin average 19 years in age with a small plot of 50 year old vines in Pokolbin. We use organic practices in the vineyard with no pesticides and permanent grasses. The vines are pruned by hand, trained by hand and the fruit is picked by hand. Andrew Tedder, who has considerable experience with organics and biodynamics, is overseeing the ongoing development of Glenguin's organic program.

Glenguin Estatewas established by the Tedder family and Robin Tedder is one of Australia's 15 qualified Masters of Wine. Robin is assisted in the vineyard by viticulturist Klaus Hahn and in the winery by consulting oenologist Rhys Eather.

In a world of simple fruity wines made in industrial quantities the Tedder family sets out to demonstrate that, with low yields of fruit from hand tended vines, it is possible to make exciting balanced wines that speak of whence they came. Wines that are mouthwatering to drink and complementary with food.
