Farnese

The deep-coloured, intense and powerful ‘Edizione Cinque Autoctoni’ is, according to its creator Valentino Sciotti, ‘a true taste of southern Italy’. A blend of Montepulciano and Sangiovese from the Abruzzi, and Primitivo, Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera from southern Puglia, it is rich, brambly and impressive, but rendered eminently drinkable by a tangy acidity on the palate. The wine is aged solely in new oak, 60% of which is American (from Seguin Moreau) and 40% French. All fi ve varieties are aged separately, then blended to create a very impressive, wholly unique wine.
