Cafaro

Joe Cafaro has been making wine in the Napa Valley for close to 40 years. He has held winemaker positions at wineries including Chappellet, Keenan, Acacia, Robert Sinskey, Oakville Ranch Vineyard and Dalla Valle, and currently serves as the winemaker for Emilio’s Terrace. His dream of producing wine under his own label came to fruition in 1986. Ten years later, he bought a small parcel of land on the eastern hills south of the Stags Leap District appellation and planted a vineyard. The 15-acre vineyard is now the source of all the fruit used by Joe to make the Cafaro wines. It is situated at an elevation of just under 200 metres above sea level, and is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and a few acres of Syrah. Cafaro Cellars currently produces a limited quantity (roughly 3,000 cases in total) of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.
